Alexandra de Athayde appointed as new Chair of the Steering Committee of the FAO LEAP Partnership

The FAO Livestock Environmental Assessment and Performance (LEAP) Partnership is honored to announce the appointment of Alexandra de Athayde, Executive Director of the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF), as the new Chair of the Steering Committee of the FAO LEAP Partnership.

Alexandra brings extensive international experience in agriculture, feed and trade. In her role at IFIF, she represents the global feed sector in key international settings, including the FAO, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Codex Alimentarius. She also serves on the Steering Committee of the International Cooperation for the Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF).

Her career spans leadership positions across Brazil, the United States, and Europe, where she has worked closely with both public institutions and the private sector. Alexandra previously served as Adviser to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and to the Foreign Trade Secretary in Brazil. She holds an International Executive MBA from the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and a BA in International Relations from York University (Canada).

Alexandra succeeds former chair Peter Ettema, New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries, who has chaired the FAO LEAP Steering Committee since mid-2024.
