ICCF launches public consultation on ‘Identification and Characterization’ guidance

May 30, 2022

An Expert Working Group of the International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF), composed of experts drawn from the ICCF founding members has developed a new guidance document on ‘Identification and Characterization of feed ingredients’.

The ICCF Steering Committee adopted the draft Guidance Document and accompanying checklist for Public Consultation on 29 April 2022.

The Public Consultation on the Guidance Document ‘Identification and Characterization’ and accompanying Check list is now open for comments by interested stakeholders until 30 June 2022. Stakeholders are invited to submit their comments, using the feedback documents.

The draft Guidance Document provides recommendations to applicants for relevant information on identifying and characterizing their feed ingredient necessary for its evaluation. It provides recommendations with respect to the different types of feed ingredients, as described in the published Guidance Document on ‘Manufacturing Process and Specifications’.

The draft ICCF Guidance document, accompanying Check list and feedback documents can be downloaded at the ICCF website here.

Stakeholders are invited to provide their comments using the template supplied by 30 June 2022 via email to secretariat@iccffeed.org.

About ICCF

The International Cooperation for the Convergence of Technical requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) was created in 2017. It was founded by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the European Commission (DG SANTE)  and the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures (FEFANA), and the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF).
